Product Manager
Job Description
Camco Manufacturing LLC is building a dedicated upstream product management function within Engineering & Product Development. In this onsite role in Greensboro, NC, you will own the work that happens before engineering execution: upstream product definition, pipeline discovery, cross-functional alignment, and the commercialization inputs that help products launch with clarity.
Responsibilities
- Define the product thesis for each assigned project, including what the product is, who it serves, the problem it solves, and what it must deliver to succeed commercially.
- Complete competitive landscape analysis and feature benchmarking prior to engineering engagement to identify existing solutions, gaps, and product differentiation.
- Validate consumer demand using voice-of-customer research, e-commerce review analysis, dealer and consumer engagement, and category trend data.
- Develop cost and pricing models to establish commercial viability and define the cost envelope for engineering.
- Create thorough product briefs that provide engineering with unambiguous direction to initiate design.
- Validate commercial offering opportunities and build implementation strategies.
- Own the product pipeline across assigned categories, managing projects in 12-, 18-, and 24-month development horizons.
- Ensure pipeline projects include required PM discovery work before engineering resources are committed.
- Participate in pipeline planning and prioritization discussions with leadership to align discovery work with engineering capacity.
- Track stage-gate progression across the portfolio and surface blockers or off-sequence activities to leadership.
- Act as the bridge between market intelligence and engineering execution, representing the commercial perspective throughout development.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Implementation, and Quality to ensure requirements are both technically feasible and commercially sound.
- Engage Sales and Marketing early and consistently so the GTM plan reflects the product’s designed value proposition.
- Maintain relationships with key retail partners, dealers, and OEM customers to stay connected to channel requirements and commercial dynamics.
- Understand and support go-to-market strategy, including pricing, channel strategy, retail positioning, and launch sequencing.
- Create and maintain product documentation, competitive sell sheets, and sales enablement tools as the authority on technical, commercial, and competitive differentiation.
- Support trade show preparation, product training, and dealer engagement activities.
- Own post-launch review by analyzing sell-through data, consumer feedback, warranty trends, and competitive response, then translate learnings into the next development cycle.
- Maintain ongoing awareness of the RV industry, including consumer trends, emerging technologies, OEM and dealer dynamics, regulatory changes, and competitive activity.
- Monitor e-commerce performance data, consumer reviews, and product ratings to identify product improvements and potential new category entries.
- Develop business cases for new product lines using market sizing, revenue projections, and ROI analysis supported by data.
- Track and report on portfolio performance, including sales, margin, category trends, and competitive positioning.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience in physical consumer products; RV, automotive, marine, or adjacent aftermarket industries strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated upstream product definition experience before engineering engagement, including product briefs, competitive analysis, and consumer research.
- Proven track record taking physical products from concept through commercial launch using stage-gate or similar structured development processes.
- Experience setting cost targets and pricing strategy in collaboration with engineering and commercial teams.
- Strong analytical skills, including comfort with market sizing, financial modeling, sell-through analysis, and consumer data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate complex market intelligence into clear product direction for engineering audiences.
- Demonstrated experience managing product lines, including PLM, gap analysis, and competitive opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
Benefits
- Competitive salary
- 401k with company match
- Participation in company health insurance plans (medical, dental). Supplemental insurance offered
- Promotes work/life balance with paid time off and paid holidays
