Product Manager- Commercial Lines
Job Description
The Product Manager will be accountable for business value and outcomes while evangelizing a product mindset and driving end-to-end delivery of strategic imperatives across an agile program. In this hybrid role based in Short Hills, NJ, you will act as a chief user and customer advocate, leading Product Owners and program-level execution through prioritization and outcome measurement.
Role Focus
- Own program-level value delivery and measurable outcomes, ensuring alignment between strategic goals and program development plans.
- Translate product strategy into an executable, customer- and business-outcome oriented roadmap across an agile delivery environment.
- Lead customer advocacy and feedback integration to refine product and program vision.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and synthesize product strategy into a clear, inspirational, and actionable vision that supports agile development and delivery.
- Convert vision and development plans into a value-based, iterative roadmap, communicating business and customer outcomes on an appropriate timeline.
- Collaborate with product leaders, IT leaders, business leaders, stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure strategic alignment.
- Serve as chief customer advocate and proxy by engaging internal and external customers, building feedback mechanisms, optimizing feedback, and incorporating outcomes into the product and program vision.
- Conduct and participate in market and competitive research, applying findings to product initiatives.
- Identify and direct the collection of relevant data, and perform refinement and analysis to inform decisions.
- Apply an economic view to evaluate cost, benefit, and business value when prioritizing product and program work.
- Lead development and enrichment of a product mindset across the agile program and organization, ensuring shared understanding of product strategy.
- Promote innovation and guide teams through ambiguity and change.
- Lead a team of Product Owners within an agile program by setting direction, fostering collaboration, enabling decision-making, and removing obstacles.
- Own, manage, and regularly prioritize the program-level and feature backlog.
- Direct feature refinement in partnership with Product Owners, IT leads, end users, customers, stakeholders, and partners.
- Align and direct demonstrations of business value for product leadership, business partners, stakeholders, end users, and customers.
- Guide agile ceremonies and program planning activities, including business value assignment, defect prioritization, and continuous improvement.
- Proactively manage inter- and intra-program dependencies, aligning prioritization and communicating impacts as appropriate.
- Measure, track, and communicate outcomes with program-level status reporting.
Requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of the P&C insurance industry, with product line or domain expertise and aptitude for continued learning.
- Mastery of distilling and decomposing business strategy into a compelling, actionable vision.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, including appreciation for diverse perspectives.
- Expertise in customer and user engagement and related methodologies.
- Expertise in market and competitive research and related methodologies.
- Ability to manage, coach, empower, and develop direct reports comfortably and effectively.
- Expert problem-solving capability with intellectual curiosity and a development-focused mindset.
- Mastery of data collection and analysis, with the ability to apply insights in decision-making.
- High comfort level navigating ambiguity.
- Ability to operate effectively across both strategic and tactical levels.
- Comprehensive understanding of and extensive experience with product and software development lifecycles.
- Expert knowledge of and practical experience with agile methodologies and tooling.
- Expert knowledge of and practical experience writing and refining agile requirements.
- Experience and comfort working with regulated products.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of business analysis experience.
- 2+ years of experience in an insurance line of business role.
- 2+ years of leadership experience.
Education
- College degree preferred.
Compensation
Pay Range: USD $146,000.00 - USD $189,000.00 /Yr.
