Job Description
B2B Soft is seeking a Senior Product Manager with fintech expertise to lead the evolution of our end-to-end Payment Processing Platform. This role sits on-site in New York City, partnering with senior leadership to drive platform growth, own critical components, and ensure seamless collaboration with customers and partners. Regular store visits and direct customer meetings are required to align product decisions with real-world needs. The position offers a competitive salary in the USD 160,000 to 190,000 per year range.
Responsibilities
- Own core elements of the Payment Platform including gateway, terminals, routing logic, APIs, fraud tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Define requirements to improve reliability, scalability, and performance of payment processing.
- Lead initiatives to optimize payments, focusing on interchange efficiency, routing improvements, processor performance, and retry logic.
- Support merchant onboarding and ensure KYB, KYC, and AML workflows meet regulatory and partner requirements.
- Collaborate with underwriting, risk, and operations to shorten merchant approval and activation times.
- Specify needs for chargeback management, disputes workflows, alerts, and risk dashboards.
- Drive integrations with processors, gateway partners, fraud vendors, and alternative payment providers.
- Document API requirements, certification processes, testing plans, and versioning updates.
- Maintain awareness of evolving network mandates, compliance changes, and processor release cycles.
- Deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations of the payments platform to prospects, partners, and industry executives.
- Serve as the technical payments expert in sales discussions, RFPs, and partner integration talks.
- Troubleshoot payment processing issues with customers and partners, including terminal configurations, declines, settlement discrepancies, and integration challenges.
- Lead technical discovery sessions to translate customer requirements into concrete platform capabilities.
- Provide ongoing technical support and consult with key accounts and strategic partners.
- Create training materials, technical documentation, and best-practices guides for merchants and partners.
- Support migration toward a modern microservices and front-end architecture.
- Assist in build/partner/buy assessments for terminals, fraud vendors, processors, and gateway components.
- Contribute to long-term roadmap planning for global payments expansion, new methods, and compliance needs.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in payments, fintech, or merchant services.
- Strong understanding of acquiring, ISO/MSP structures, payment gateways, and card brand rules.
- Deep technical expertise in payment processing architecture, including authorization flows, settlement mechanics, exception handling, and system integrations.
- Experience with card-present and card-not-present payments, EMV flows, tokenization, and routing logic.
- Familiarity with Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 data for interchange optimization.
- Experience with fraud tools, risk scoring, PCI-DSS, 3D Secure, device security, and P2PE.
- Extensive knowledge of processor integrations (Global Payments, Fiserv, TSYS, Stripe, Adyen).
- Understanding of PayFac models, KYC/KYB, AML, underwriting workflows, and onboarding APIs.
- Knowledge of alternative payment methods (ACH, RTP, wallets, BNPL, QR payments).
- Experience with third-party vendor due diligence and eligibility assessment for integration into the B2BSoft ecosystem.
- Strong API/SDK literacy and ability to collaborate with engineering on gateway and orchestration layers.
- Familiarity with POS, RMS, ERP, and eCommerce system integrations.
- Comfort reading API logs, payment traces, decline codes, and reconciliation data.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex payment issues in real time, including terminal connectivity and gateway configuration.
- Skill in translating complex payment flows into clear product requirements.
- Exceptional presentation and demonstration skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong consultative approach to uncover customer pain points and translate them into product needs.
- Experience supporting technical sales, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and solution-architecture discussions.
- Ability to establish credibility with merchants, partners, and executives through deep subject-matter expertise.
- Proven track record delivering impactful payments features end-to-end and supporting Agile teams.
- Excellent PRD/story writing, acceptance criteria definition, and cross-functional alignment.
- Strong analytical skills for payment performance metrics such as approvals, declines, costs, risk, disputes, and settlement timing.
- Executive-level communication and the ability to influence sales, account management, operations, support, and compliance.
- High ownership mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities.
- Proven ability to act as a payments subject-matter expert internally and externally.
