Senior Product Manager - Content (Offroad)
Job Description
Own Offroad’s content and data strategy while you help connect customer jobs-to-be-done to the trail, POI, conditions, and land knowledge that powers real-world navigation. onX is building a distributed team with strong collaboration across multiple US locations, plus benefits that support an active lifestyle.
What you’ll do
- Own Offroad’s content and data strategy, translating JTBD and market research into a clear point of view on what content is needed (trails, POIs, UGC-sourced conditions, land data, basemaps, and emerging content layers) and how it should be structured and connected, aligned to Offroad’s overall product strategy.
- Lead research and exploration of third-party data by identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing new external sources to expand coverage and unlock new capabilities.
- Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and Content to prioritize the content roadmap and define requirements (data model, schema, and UX) that translate content strategy into shipped product.
- Champion an end-to-end content experience by thinking beyond backend structure and schema to how trail, POI, and land content appears for off-road riders in the field.
- Own measurement and analysis of content impact on customer behavior, conversion, and ROI, using insights to guide strategic direction.
- Build and manage relationships with land management agencies (BLM, USFS, state and local land managers) and other data providers, including interpreting regulations, sourcing data, and negotiating licensing and acquisition agreements.
- Lead the Trail Guide Program through a direct report, setting direction and goals while day-to-day execution covers contributor acquisition, community management, and trail content delivery.
- Represent Offroad’s content and data roadmap, priorities, and risks to product and cross-functional leadership.
- Continuously refine content and data priorities by collecting and channeling market trends, customer feedback, and research as Offroad evolves.
- Integrate AI experimentation into daily workflows as a repeatable co-pilot approach, validating use with sound judgment and iterative improvements.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Geography, GIS, Business, Data/Analytics) or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years leading software products or platforms, including at least 4 years of product management and 3 years in content strategy, data management, or program management.
- Ideally, experience in geospatial data, outdoor recreation, or consumer technology.
- Demonstrated ability translating customer needs into content or data-model requirements with product, design, and engineering teams.
- A track record of genuine curiosity about end-user experience and jobs-to-be-done, including thinking beyond the backend data model to how content creates value.
- Credible ties to the off-road, overlanding, or powersports community.
- Comfort switching between technical conversations (data models, schemas) and relationship-driven conversations (partners, contributor community).
- People leadership experience, or a proven record directing others without direct authority.
- Strong curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI.
- Shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX Company Values.
- Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment.
- Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location (such as a Basecamp).
Benefits at onX
- Competitive salaries, annual bonuses, equity, and growth opportunities.
- Comprehensive health benefits, including a no-monthly-cost medical plan.
- Paid parental leave: 13 weeks for birthing parents and 5 weeks for non-birthing parents.
- 401k matching: 100% for the first 3% you save and 50% from 3-5%.
- Company-wide outdoor adventures and outdoor industry perks.
- Annual “Get Out, Get Active” funds to support an active lifestyle.
- Flexible time away package with PTO, STO, VTO, and paid holidays.
Added bonuses that align
- Direct experience working with land management agencies (BLM, USFS, state parks) or third-party geospatial data licensing.
- Experience building and managing external partnerships or data relationships (government agencies, land managers, or data vendors/licensors).
- Experience scaling a contributor, community, or ambassador-style program.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms, geospatial data pipelines, or knowledge-graph/data-model concepts.
