Sr Product Manager
Job Description
Based in Austin, Cox Automotive’s vAuto unit offers an onsite Senior Product Manager role focused on vehicle acquisition within the AcES Release Train. You will shape how dealers source, evaluate, and acquire used vehicle inventory using market data, vehicle condition insights, and AI signals to support confident purchasing decisions. This position emphasizes discovery, strategy, AI-enabled product development, and adoption within a collaborative, outcome-driven culture. Compensation ranges from USD 111,600 to 186,000 per year. Education requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or higher, with alternative combinations noted: Master’s with 2 years, PhD with 1 year, or 12 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Discovery and strategy: Identify and validate dealer-related problems with partners and stakeholders. Ground your point of view in data, customer evidence, and competitive context, and defend it with specifics.
- Roadmap and backlog: Define a forward-looking product roadmap with product leadership. Own Epics and Features end-to-end, contribute to PI Planning, and prioritize the backlog to keep AI teams aligned with clear, sequenced work.
- Spec driven development: Write Discovery Specs and co-author Delivery Specs with Engineering and Design. Maintain a durable product context repository beyond tooling artifacts.
- AI fluent product work: Use Claude Desktop, Copilot, and similar tools daily for discovery synthesis, spec drafting, prototype generation, and context management. Craft prompts as a core skill and design AI powered dealer capabilities, not just AI assisted productivity.
- Data driven decisions: Ground recommendations in data from Amplitude, Tableau, and Snowflake. Interpret what the data represents, monitor post-launch performance, and drive continuous improvement against KPIs.
- Adoption and go-to-market: Define what complete adoption looks like, develop rollout plans with performance managers and support teams, and coordinate with Sales, Marketing, and training for launch readiness. Track outcomes against measurable criteria.
- Stakeholder engagement: Serve as a senior liaison across product, engineering, operations, and leadership. Represent dealer and customer priorities to influence product and technology decisions; surface status, risks, and wins with clear recommendations.
Requirements
- Discovery practice: Experience moving ambiguous problems to solid product recommendations, including situations where the customer request does not reveal the full problem.
- Roadmap and prioritization: Ability to articulate what was built, what was not, and why, tied to outcomes and pain points. History of owning a roadmap, leading PI Planning, and enforcing tradeoffs under competing pressures.
- Tangible AI fluency: Proficient with Claude Desktop, Microsoft Copilot, or equivalents. Practice prompt writing and customize your workflows; have a point of view on AI enabled dealer features and token cost optimization.
- Data literacy: Comfortable pulling and interpreting data from Amplitude, Tableau, and Snowflake to support decisions without reliance on a data translator.
- Stakeholder influence: Build alignment by leading with evidence and clearly framed tradeoffs; able to influence senior leadership and navigate priorities across matrixed teams.
- Ownership: Curiosity, drive for your product area, and a bias for action with clear next steps.
- Education and experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4 years of related experience; alternative combinations include Master’s with 2 years, PhD with 1 year, or 12 years of related experience with no degree.
- Experience: 5+ years in software product management with end-to-end discovery ownership from problem identification to validated direction.
- AI tools proficiency: Working knowledge of AI tools (Claude Desktop, GitHub Copilot, or equivalents) and practiced prompt writing.
- Artifact workspace: Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise as a product artifact workspace.
- Evidence-based prioritization: Comfort using Amplitude, Snowflake, or equivalents for prioritization.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Delivery environment: Experience in CAFe, AIT, or scaled agile delivery is preferred.
- Industry context: Experience in automotive retail, dealer software, or adjacent B2B SaaS is preferred but not required.
