Technical Product Manager

Job Description

Join AARP and help shape the digital products that support members. This hybrid role in Washington, DC combines product strategy, discovery, and delivery for technical products, platforms, and shared capabilities, with a focus on measurable value. You will translate enterprise goals, member needs, and technical opportunities into scalable solutions and use analytics and AI-enabled capabilities to improve how teams decide, build, and deliver.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management for assigned technical products and capabilities, ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities, member needs, and business objectives.
  • Lead technical product discovery by using member insights, data, stakeholder feedback, and market trends to identify opportunities for technical enhancement and innovation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define product goals, requirements, and success measures, communicating priorities, tradeoffs, progress, and outcomes.
  • Prioritize enhancements and backlog items by balancing member value, business impact, technical feasibility, risk, and delivery considerations.
  • Define and maintain technical product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation to enable effective execution.
  • Monitor technical product performance and adoption metrics, identifying ways to improve technical effectiveness, member experience, and business value.
  • Use modern product management tools, analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities to strengthen discovery, decision-making, productivity, and delivery outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, technical product management, digital products, or a related technology-focused role.
  • Proven experience developing and managing product strategies, roadmaps, and full lifecycles for digital products, platforms, or technology solutions.
  • Strong background in product discovery, requirements gathering, and stakeholder engagement using user insights, analytics, and market trends.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans for cross-functional teams.
  • Experience prioritizing backlogs and making trade-off decisions based on customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, risk, and delivery constraints.
  • Strong analytical skills, including monitoring performance and adoption metrics and using customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Agile methodologies, product management tools, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled technologies, plus strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid (Washington, DC). AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work is available only within the United States and its territories.

Visa Notice: AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.

Compensation: USD 136,800 - 152,000 per year.
