Technical Product Manager
Job Description
The Technical Product Manager leads product management for an assigned portfolio, partnering with developers and business stakeholders to define requirements, manage the product lifecycle, and drive adoption and performance across HCA Healthcare’s nationwide ecosystem. This role focuses on value-driven products that support healthcare care outcomes.
Role Overview
You will own product strategy, planning, and lifecycle management for multiple related products. The position emphasizes aligning business goals with technical execution, translating requirements into actionable work, and monitoring performance through defined KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a deep understanding of business goals and processes to inform product priorities and improvement recommendations.
- Develop strong relationships and communicate regularly with stakeholders and customers to shape product strategy and surface, prioritize, and address needs.
- Lead product strategy, planning, and life cycle management efforts.
- Monitor business, market, and technology trends and propose new solutions proactively.
- Create product roadmaps and release plans that meet requirements and deliver business outcomes.
- Translate business requirements into actionable products and technical requirements.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate product performance and champion product improvements.
- Determine internal and contract or external resources and skill requirements to deliver against the roadmap.
- Guide the product engineering team to scope, plan, and deliver work using established delivery methodologies such as agile methods and best practices such as reusability.
- Identify and resolve blockers, including technical and resourcing challenges, to achieve product business objectives.
- Ensure alignment with corporate, financial, and IT standards including architecture, compliance, and security.
- Increase adoption and consumption of product capabilities.
- Manage investment decision-making and product finances using a return-on-investment approach to increase value while minimizing product costs.
- Evaluate proposed new technology for departmental use and organizational fit.
- Work closely with developers, project managers, business analysts, and QA engineers.
- Identify potential revenue-generating solutions; perform patent evaluations and feasibility analysis where applicable.
- Support leadership in developing a catalog of service offerings and associated costs.
- Ensure staff engineers follow HCA Healthcare standards and procedures, maintaining code and version control through defined application development software.
- Lead the product lifecycle from inception through elaboration, development, testing, and implementation.
- Ensure staff provide advanced troubleshooting user support by working with end users across the organization.
- Define, track, and communicate relevant KPIs to measure product performance and contribution to business goals and strategy.
- Identify and help implement process additions, changes, or deletions that support technology adoption.
- Conduct training sessions and/or ensure training is performed to support high levels of technology adoption.
- Identify and acquire technologies and perform supporting managerial tasks such as contract management, requisitioning, and invoice payments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- 5 or more years of relevant experience (required).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Growth mindset and willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks.
- Relationship building and collaboration skills across diverse and matrixed stakeholders and customers.
- Ability to surface, prioritize, and balance multiple stakeholder priorities.
- Strong project management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience determining and overseeing software development initiatives and estimating resource requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including leveraging data to inform decision-making and independently solving software engineering problems.
- Expertise in strategic thinking and strong business acumen.
- Strong experience understanding business partner and client needs.
- Demonstrated success defining and building products.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information concisely to stakeholders verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation of CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of agile methodology and software development lifecycles.
