Job Description

Ascensus is hiring a Digital Onboarding Product Owner to shape how onboarding is delivered for a specific domain within its digital onboarding approach (Unqork). In this onsite Pennsylvania role, you will define vision and outcomes, partner across IT and Product, and guide development work that supports measurable business value.

This position combines deep domain expertise in defined contribution retirement plan onboarding with hands-on product ownership responsibilities across strategy, backlog management, release planning, and sprint execution.

What you’ll do

  • Bring in-depth expertise in Defined Contribution retirement plan administration and onboarding across multiple service delivery models and market segments.
  • Establish the vision, goals, and strategy for a given domain (Unqork), informed by strategic direction from leadership.
  • Partner with IT, Product, and other business teams to define service delivery features and assist with prioritizing the development and maintenance backlog.
  • Drive service delivery development with technology (where applicable) to maximize business value delivered.
  • Resolve complex issues across business groups by applying a broad perspective and identifying solutions with quantifiable impact on organizational goals.
  • Generate new, valuable ideas and business solutions using analytics and sound judgment, including assessing and managing risk.
  • Focus on sustainable long-term value, communicating value attributes clearly and in a way that enables action.
  • Operate independently in complex situations and may lead functional teams and/or projects with notable risk and complexity.
  • Articulate value propositions, define desired product development outcomes, and establish metrics/KPIs to measure success.
  • Provide direction across the product lifecycle, including conveying vision and goals at the beginning of each increment of work.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by engaging stakeholders and end users to ensure the business need is understood accurately.
  • Collaborate with the scrum team on feature definition, translating business needs into detailed user stories with actionable acceptance criteria to support Behavior Driven Design (BDD).
  • Maintain an organized product backlog that captures evolving requirements and adjusts priorities as needed.
  • Participate in UX design sessions and usability testing as required.
  • Partner with the scrum team to plan and execute release-on-demand project implementations.
  • Provide PO review and approval of completed user stories, inspect product progress at the end of each sprint, and adjust course as needed.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for product and team updates and feedback.
  • Partner with Organizational Readiness on implementation strategy, rollout, adoption, and user support.
  • Promote new capabilities that drive engagement and adoption.

  • Protect, secure, and properly handle all confidential data held by Ascensus to prevent unauthorized access, improper transmission, or unapproved disclosure.

What you bring

  • In-depth expertise in Defined Contribution retirement plan administration and onboarding across multiple service delivery models and market segments.
  • Superior understanding of Ascensus onboarding service delivery models, the external customer experience, and the competitive environment, including relevant customer and marketplace trends.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Retirement and Financial Services.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Product Owner or in a related technology-based role.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and strong understanding of Agile and SDLC methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and executing Agile practices with strong technical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality work that adheres to standards, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements.
  • Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, negotiation, decision-making, and change management.
  • Curious and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Degree in Business, Technology, or a related field.
