Job Description

This role leads the vision, strategy, and delivery of a product line, collaborating with Sales and Marketing on go-to-market plans and defining requirements, backlog, and success metrics, with travel up to 25 percent and flexibility for hybrid or remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate market opportunities and determine which products and features to build.
  • Set the long-term direction, business goals, and metrics aligned with commitments.
  • Define new features, craft user stories and acceptance criteria, establish KPIs and OKRs, own and prioritize backlog, triage defects, and drive iterative releases with measurement of success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to produce product requirements, use cases, specifications, wireframes, and UI mockups.
  • Analyze competitors and value to achieve product-market fit; define feature plans and use-case scenarios.
  • Partner with Program Management to meet milestones, including sprint reviews, planning meetings, and feature reviews.
  • Capture market requirements for current and future offerings through market research and ongoing visits to customers and prospects.
  • Validate target markets through customer interviews and market research.
  • Translate customer feedback and market trends into actionable requirements for evaluation processes.
  • Collaborate with Marketing as needed to support market plans and marketing programs.
  • Perform ongoing analysis and propose actions to maintain marketability and profitability of the product line.
  • Provide input to marketing to help generate high-quality sales aids such as product guides, press releases, and web content.
  • Assist the Business Solutions Department with product-related inquiries about how offerings meet customer needs now and in the future.
  • Represent the product function at trade shows and User Group Meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in computer science, business management, or an equivalent field.
  • 6+ years of software product management experience or equivalent subject matter expertise.
  • Proven history of leading large mission-critical projects, cross-organization coordination, and delivering large-scale applications and services.
  • Strong ability to discuss technology with engineers and business objectives with executives and customers.
  • Keeps current with new technologies and understands their impact on the product.
  • Familiarity with security and data protection regulations and best practices (PII, GDPR, and related regulations).
  • Industry-domain expertise for the product area.
  • Self-motivated, proactive work style; able to work independently within a team.
  • Understanding of the need to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Hands-on problem-solving approach with minimal guidance and unclear requirements.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25 percent domestically and internationally; some weekends may be required.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed by management.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Experience delivering software training.
  • Prior industry experience as a technology solutions provider.
