Product Manager
Job Description
The Product Manager owns the product line vision and viability, partnering with Sales and Marketing to shape go-to-market and turning customer and market signals into measurable delivery outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess product opportunities and define what product and features should be built
- Set future product direction, business goals, and metrics aligned with business commitments
- Define new features, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria
- Establish KPIs and set OKRs for releases, then own and prioritize the backlog
- Triage defects to support iterative delivery, launch, and measurement of release success
- Partner cross-functionally to create product requirements, use cases, specifications, wireframes, and UI mockups
- Study competitive products to evaluate value and support product-market fit efforts
- Define feature plans, scenarios, and positioning inputs for stakeholders
- Coordinate with Program Management to complete project milestones (sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews, and feature reviews)
- Specify market requirements for current and future products using market research
- Conduct ongoing customer and prospect visits to support requirements and validation
- Validate target markets through customer interviews and market research
- Translate customer feedback and market trends into clearly defined requirements usable in consideration processes
- Support Marketing with market plans and information requests for Marketing-related programs
- Provide input to Marketing to enable high-quality sales aids (product guides, press releases, web content)
- Assist Business Solutions with product-related requests focused on meeting customer needs and supporting current and future inquiries
- Attend trade shows and User Group Meetings
- Complete tasks and handle situations in accordance with Gateway’s Core Values
- Communicate clearly, concisely, and timely, including voicemail and email
- Promote and uphold the company’s values, mission, and vision
- Read, understand, and comply with the Employee Handbook
- Promote and adhere to defined policies, processes, and procedures
- Perform other tasks as required by management
Requirements
- BS degree in computer science, business management, or equivalent
- 6+ years’ experience in software product management, or equivalent subject matter
- Track record leading large mission-critical projects, with cross-company coordination and communication, and building large-scale applications and services
- Ability to discuss technology fluently with engineers and business needs and objectives with executives and customers
- Keep up to date on new technology and understand product impact
- Knowledge of security and data protection regulations and best practices (PII, GDPR, and other regulations)
- Expertise in the industry the product serves
- Self-managed, proactive work style
- Ability to work independently in a team environment
- Understanding of the necessity to meet stringent deadlines
- “Get it done” mindset, solving problems with minimal guidance or unclear requirements
- Entrepreneurial approach and excellent communication skills across the organization
- Strong problem-solving skills, including looking at issues from outside the box
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel 25% domestically and internationally; some weekends required
- Willingness to work additional hours beyond regularly scheduled hours as requested by management
- Strong negotiation and conflict management skills
- Experience training software applications
- Prior industry related experience, specifically as a technology solution provider
Physical Demands

- Ability to perform repetitive movement actions, including walking, standing, and sitting for long periods
