Senior Product Manager
Job Description
Join Zello in Austin, TX (onsite) to lead the company’s biggest cross-product initiative, bringing together the consumer and Zello Work product lines to unlock enterprise growth. You will also run a second major, ambiguous initiative in parallel after your first year.
What you’ll get at Zello
- Competitive pay
- Equity with significant upside
- Flexible schedules and time off
- A sabbatical after every five years of service
- Ping-pong table
- Free snacks in our break room
Responsibilities
- Own strategy and execution to unify the consumer and Zello Work product lines, from problem framing through shipped milestones.
- Coordinate multiple complex workstreams at once while maintaining clarity, quality, and follow-through.
- Partner daily with design, engineering, and data to turn ambiguous, high-stakes problems into products that ship.
- Work directly with enterprise customers and senior stakeholders to uncover root problems and drive conversations toward outcomes.
- Prioritize ruthlessly across Android, iOS, web, and backend to focus on the highest-impact opportunities for users.
- Model strong problem framing, discovery, and decision-making, and coach other PMs on the team.
- Use AI tools in day-to-day product work and identify new ways to bring AI into how the team operates.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product management experience, including leading initiatives from 0 to 1 with minimal oversight.
- Experience setting direction, not just shipping; you can zoom out, find the highest-impact opportunity, and create clarity when the path is unclear.
- A problem-first approach: pull in the right people early, and move with urgency once the problem is clear.
- Strong customer rapport and the ability to hold your ground with enterprise buyers and executives, including handling pushback without losing the room.
- Comfort doing the hard product work yourself, including going deep on decisions, tradeoffs, and details.
- Fluency in how software gets built, reasoning about feasibility and tradeoffs with engineers without attempting to own technical design.
- The ability to challenge consensus when it would weaken user outcomes, and to strengthen the team by asking better questions.
First-year outcomes
- End-to-end ownership of the combination of Zello’s consumer and Zello Work product lines, with a plan approved by the end of Q1 and the first milestone shipped by Q2.
- Running a second large, ambiguous initiative in parallel, moving the team from one major bet at a time to two or more.
- Raising the bar for product thinking by teaching new skills and ways of working across the team.
What this role is not
- Not a process role: this is not about defining Jira workflows; it is about driving product thinking and outcomes.
- Not a coding role: you will be technically fluent, but engineering owns the build.
- Not a people-management role: you will mentor PMs with no direct reports.
- Not a big-company PM seat with large teams and heavy tooling: you will work lean alongside 4 PMs and 3 designers.
