Sr. Product Manager, Test Management Platform
Job Description
Lucid Motors is hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead verification and test management for a connected test management platform. This internal product role focuses on ensuring traceability, coverage, and gate review evidence from requirements through test cases, executions, and results, spanning both hardware and software.
Role Overview
The responsibility covers the full chain of verification evidence: requirements, derived test cases, test runs that execute those cases, and the results accepted by gate review as evidence. The scope spans hardware and software, with emphasis on owning the tooling, underlying data model, and the reliability of coverage and evidence through phase gate decisions.
This role is not responsible for running tests or owning the DVP execution itself. Instead, it owns the platform capabilities used by test organizations to produce verification outcomes that hold up in gate review and safety related needs.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy and roadmap for test case management and test run management as a single connected capability, and carry that direction into the broader platform roadmap.
- Define and maintain a traceability model linking requirement to test case to test run to result to defect, sustaining the model as programs, variants, and test types expand.
- Sequence delivery against real vehicle program gates, and be able to explain which gate a given scope or staffing decision impacts.
- Define the coverage and readiness measures actually used during gate review.
- Own source-of-truth decisions within the responsibility area across systems, including reconciliation rules when data overlaps.
- Protect the model’s integrity against expedited one-off requests, including the ability to communicate refusals in terms stakeholders accept.
- Work with the manager to clarify what belongs in the data model, pipeline, application, and what should remain outside the system.
- Ensure coverage can be answered on demand: which requirements have test cases, which cases have run, which runs passed, and what remains before the gate.
- Drive migration away from legacy requirements and test tooling, including data cleanup and associated working habits.
- Keep verification evidence required for audit or safety case attached to the object that produced it.
- Own the architecture of the test case library, including authoring, review, reuse across variants and programs, versioning, and linkage back to the requirement each case verifies.
- Own the traceability paradigm for execution, including campaigns and plans, scheduling across labs and infrastructure, results capture, retest handling, deviations and waivers, and defect linkage.
- Make hardware and software execution reconcile into a single program-level verification picture, rather than two parallel views.
- Partner with test engineering to determine where platform automation should be applied and where it should avoid disruption.
- Build relationships with director-level stakeholders across Test and Validation, Systems Engineering, Software, Hardware Engineering, Quality, Homologation, and Program Management.
- Take recommendations into VP-level forums with the manager, including providing detailed answers during discussion.
- Broker priority conflicts between functions with legitimate competing needs and drive decisions that hold.
- Represent the capability in program reviews and gate reviews so roadmap priorities remain aligned to program needs.
- Conduct discovery with the people who run tests in the lab, at the bench, on the track, and in the pipeline.
- Write specifications, decision records, and proposals covering the problem, options considered, trade-offs, blast radius on live production data, and rollout and rollback plans.
- Maintain a high bar for definition quality and review peer work against that bar.
- Own launches with real organizational risk, including pilot selection, readiness criteria, phased rollout, and a credible fallback if adoption stalls.
- Generate training and communications for enablement and change management that determine launch success.
- Measure adoption and data quality after launch and continue closing gaps rather than declaring completion.
Hardware and Software Scope
- Hardware: carry DVP, test requests, sample and build allocation, lab and track capacity, and the DV and PV campaigns behind each program gate.
- Software: support suites running in CI, on bench, on HIL, and in vehicle, tied to a release candidate and the feature they verify.
Requirements
- Product management experience with end-to-end ownership of an enterprise, internal platform, or business systems product, with a track record you can walk through.
- Direct experience with verification or test management as a product or process domain, including requirements management, test case management, and test run management.
- A working understanding of how hardware verification and software verification differ, and what they must share for a program-level answer.
- Demonstrated ownership of a system of record rather than a reporting layer, including responsibility for data correctness and downstream consequences.
- Proven ability to drive change.
- Strong systems and data thinking, including sources of truth, reconciliation logic, data modeling and taxonomy design, integration latency, and failure behavior when systems disagree.
- Excellent written communication skills, including specifications, decision records, and proposals that can be read and acted on without presenting.
- Credibility with engineers, including the ability to sit with a test engineer, follow a procedure, and produce actionable specification outcomes.
- Data literacy sufficient to work independently, including Jira and JQL, working SQL or equivalent, and the instinct to interrogate numbers before repeating them.
- Effective use of GitHub Copilot or comparable AI assistants across research, analysis, prototyping, and drafting, with judgment to verify outputs.
