Job Description

Carvana is hiring a Lead Product Manager to drive product outcomes for Inventory and ADESA. This is a hands-on, floor-facing role that connects roadmap execution to real-world reconditioning workflows across Carvana’s network of Inspection Centers and ADESA auctions.

You will lead multiple product managers while staying deeply involved with operators and data, helping scale and optimize the reconditioning network for speed, cost, and quality. The position also emphasizes an AI-first approach, including collaboration with DSS and ML Engineering to move toward automation of the reconditioning process.

Role & Team Context

The Inventory and ADESA Product team owns the systems and processes that transform an acquired vehicle into sale-ready inventory as efficiently as possible across Carvana’s network of 150+ Inspection Centers (ICs) and 50+ ADESA auctions. The team’s scope includes reconditioning workflow and throughput, labor forecasting and utilization, vehicle quality standards, inventory management, and lot operations workflows. These levers shape how fast, how well, and how cheaply a vehicle moves through the network.

With a long-term goal of automating reconditioning using AI and machine learning, this position calls for a data-centric product leader who develops and leads product managers responsible for roadmap delivery in support of broader business goals. The work is grounded in field observation, with meaningful time inside Inspection Centers and ADESA Auctions to watch processes, talk with technicians, and inform software and process decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead multiple product managers building and executing product roadmaps for Inventory and ADESA, supporting scaling and optimization across Inspection Centers and ADESA auctions.
  • Coach and develop the team to launch and improve scalable products tied to applicable business metrics.
  • Create consumable, actionable narratives that communicate business insights and new product requirements, and share results and strategic recommendations with senior leadership.
  • Participate in site-level activities to understand needs and pain points of field-based partners.
  • Source and analyze data within product databases and SQL tables to generate business insights; when needed, create requirements for data visualizations in Tableau or other platforms.
  • Drive the end-to-end product development process, informed by operator research, analytics, and business needs.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Analytics, and business stakeholders to scope, prioritize, and ship high-impact initiatives.
  • Work with DSS and ML Engineering to design and iterate on AI/ML solutions, including vehicle routing, labor demand forecasting, and automated quality detection, with a long-term goal of fully automating reconditioning while optimizing speed, cost, and quality.
  • Own experimentation and measurement, interpreting results and using insights to drive continuous product improvements.
  • Use AI tools as a core part of daily work, accelerating research, synthesis, prototyping, and execution.
  • Write clear requirements, project briefs, and documentation to align stakeholders and enable engineering execution.
  • Use data to size opportunities, evaluate tradeoffs, and make decisions.
  • Own your product area and be accountable for long-term trajectory of outcomes such as sales, gross profit, and cost per unit.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or similar), from an accredited undergraduate institution.
  • Domain experience in supply chain, operations, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, especially where throughput, labor efficiency, and quality are core problems.
  • 6+ years of product, product analytics, or related experience for mid-level consideration, or 4+ years for senior-level consideration.
  • Strong analytical thinking with fluency in SQL and comfort with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Sigma.
  • An AI-first approach, with hands-on experience using AI tools for research, analysis, prototyping, and day-to-day productivity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Deep product experience at one or more highly successful and ideally high-growth companies.
  • Strong opinions about internal and operational products, calibrated to technicians, shop managers, lot operations crews, and operations teams.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and support the team and customers.
  • Self-motivation, a sense of humor, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambitious environment.
  • Regular travel to Inspection Centers across the network.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
