Job Description

The role at FedEx Freight leads the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the company’s operational IT systems. Based on site in Memphis, Tennessee, the position ensures mission critical applications operate reliably, scale with the network, and continuously evolve to support a fast moving transportation ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing application development team, fostering growth and持续 improvement
  • Oversee build versus buy decisions and guide capable development teams responsible for designing, building, and supporting applications that power freight operations across the enterprise
  • Ensure these systems are modern, integrated, secure, and highly available to enable efficient operations, accurate reporting, and long term business scalability
  • Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for operational systems, ensuring alignment with business priorities, compliance, and operational goals
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, requirements, and scalability needs
  • Partner with architects, engineers, and business leaders to deliver secure, scalable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • Monitor system adoption, performance, and operational metrics to inform product decisions and drive continuous improvements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operational systems, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors on dependencies, sequencing, and release planning
  • Communicate roadmap updates, modernization progress, risks, and trade offs to business and executive stakeholders
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science, information systems, or related field
  • Five years of experience in product management or enterprise system ownership, preferably within operations domains
  • Proven track record designing, building, and managing highly available operational systems
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns, including third party solution integration
  • Knowledge of governance and compliance requirements, and readiness for audit standards
  • Experience weighing trade-offs between customization, integration, release cycles, and system standardization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic and analytical thinking to define product direction and identify opportunities for system improvement
  • Strong problem solving and prioritization abilities to manage complex integrations and modernization decisions
  • Solid technical foundation with familiarity of cloud architectures and modern cloud platforms
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and supporting vendor and SaaS solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain highly available, mission critical IT services
