Job Description

The Associate Product Manager will lead sales and marketing initiatives for Poly-Med's biomaterials and medical device portfolio, directing product definitions, market research, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the sales cycle. Travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in shaping marketing strategy, product development requirements, and coordination with development and manufacturing for new and emerging products.
  • Assists in capturing the voice of the customer within Poly-Med for assigned market segments.
  • Supports early-stage prototype development for internal and externally sponsored efforts, evaluates potential profitability, and oversees release to production.
  • Monitors day-to-day progress of early-stage feasibility prototype development.
  • Supports maintenance of products transferred to production regarding pricing and the product development pipeline.
  • Collaborates with Sales & Marketing to develop marketing analyses that inform product definitions.
  • Works with cross-functional teams including sales and marketing, product engineering, product development, operations, and quality to produce customer-centric product definitions.
  • Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for the product.
  • Coordinates marketing, sales, engineering, and financial plans for the product line with the Sales & Marketing team.
  • Provides financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
  • Sets development objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and market introduction.
  • Conducts market research and tracks trends within the company’s industry.
  • Produces competitive analyses comparing the product with key competitors.
  • Identifies opportunities to partner with third-party products to broaden the portfolio.
  • Participates in key sales situations following the feasibility phase.
  • Maintains ongoing communications to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for the product line.
  • Identifies market potential, establishes pricing and market strategies, estimates sales, and manages mature products through phase-out.
  • Supports the development of promotional activities to publicize the product through press, the sales force, and other channels.
  • Contributes product-area expertise to strategic planning and the company business plan.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates assigned programs to achieve financial and budgetary goals and optimize resource allocation.
  • Manages resources to execute assigned programs and coordinates program details across functions and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates product introductions and market exploitation with marketing and sales to maximize market penetration.
  • Provides ongoing product surveillance and lifecycle management to meet financial objectives.
  • Assists in coordinating externally sponsored and internally driven feasibility projects.
  • Represents Poly-Med at trade shows and conferences and maintains active industry memberships and participation in groups and events.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with customers, key accounts, industry influencers, and partners.
  • Prepares New Opportunity Reviews for assigned market areas.

Requirements

  • Education: BS or MS in engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of four years of relevant experience in medical sales and/or marketing and/or product management and/or clinical settings; or two years of technical sales and marketing experience with a marketing degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Project management experience: 1 year (Required).
  • Technical sales experience: 1 year (Required).
  • Science or engineering background: 1 year (Required).
