Co-op, UX Research and Experience Design - Flight Training Automation (Fall 2026)
Job Description
This co‑op role focuses on UX Research and Experience Design within Delta's Flight Training Automation, supporting the design and ongoing enhancement of crew training products across three alternating rotations.
Responsibilities
- Support the execution of user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability tests covering pilot and instructor training pathways.
- Assist in designing and analyzing surveys, task observations, and benchmark studies to surface training specific usability needs.
- Contribute to research documentation, including plans, discussion guides, findings summaries, and opportunity statements.
- Develop wireframes, user flows, mockups, and low to mid fidelity prototypes in Figma for training use cases.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, training subject matter experts, and operations partners to iterate designs informed by feedback.
- Document end to end workflows for instructor led, simulator based, and digital training experiences.
- Maintain organized documentation that supports transparency and alignment across IT, Training Operations, and business stakeholders.
- Assist with discovery workshops, empathy mapping sessions, and problem framing activities using Delta design thinking methodologies.
- Translate workshop outcomes into actionable artifacts such as opportunity backlogs, journey maps, and solution concepts.
- Work closely with cross functional teams to understand training environments, instructor workflows, and operational constraints.
Requirements
- This position runs over three alternating semesters.
- You cannot actively take any courses (online or in person) while working as a Co‑op, which may delay graduation by 1 to 2 semesters.
- Fall 2026 – 1st rotation
- Summer 2027 – 2nd rotation
- Spring 2028 – 3rd rotation
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Industrial Design, Information Science, or a related field.
- Eligible for a 3 term Co‑Op rotation through your university.
- Foundational understanding of user centered design, research methods, and accessibility principles.
- Familiarity with UX tools such as Figma, FigJam, Miro, or similar.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate observations into clear insights and visuals.
- Curious, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in complex operational environments.
- At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
