Job Description
Colorado Access is seeking a Product Owner focused on Salesforce to help shape product direction, translate customer needs into requirements, and coordinate delivery across business and IT. This hybrid role supports a fast-paced environment where roadmap planning, Agile execution, and clear release strategy are central to how value reaches customers.
In this position, you will partner with stakeholders, Agile teams, shared services, and vendors to define and maintain the product backlog, validate outcomes, and communicate Salesforce functionality to non-technical users. The role also includes system-centered initiatives such as upgrades, mandate-driven change, and optimization and standardization of the platform.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT leadership, vendors, and end users to develop a roadmap and drive products and features from concept to launch.
- Work with cross-functional Agile teams including data analytics, development, and design and user experience.
- Build, edit, and maintain the team backlog for assigned products.
- Coordinate across Agile teams to define and implement improvements that enhance speed and quality.
- Participate in the Scrum of Scrums for cross-team collaboration and coordination.
- Take part in team demos and retrospectives.
- Set the direction for product development aligned with the enterprise vision.
- Provide input into product development work owned by vendors.
- Understand customer requirements and validate that delivered solutions provide value to customers and the business.
- Turn data insights into actionable outcomes for users and stakeholders.
- Partner across the organization to inform product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.
- Translate roadmap features into well-defined product requirements, including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
- Prioritize and maintain the sprint backlog, balancing stakeholder needs with resource availability.
- Define and execute release plans to support impacted departments and users.
- Develop and maintain product performance tracking and reporting to evaluate future investment and needs.
- Support major system-centered initiatives, including upgrades (assessment, planning, and execution), mandate-driven changes, optimization and standardization of the system, and standing up new lines of business as needed.
- Serve as a thought leader on leveraging the system for financial and performance advantages for COA.
- Create or assist with business cases and financial models to support customization of product or custom software additions.
- Lead requirements creation using interviews, document analysis, workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and workflow analysis, building consensus and providing direction and oversight.
- Assist with requirements prioritization by helping the business understand enhancement value and impact if not delivered.
- Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring requirements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.
- Represent product capabilities to stakeholders and deliver presentations to executive management, customers, and other audiences as required.
- Serve as an escalation contact for incidents as required for urgent and high incidents.
- Stay current on industry and technology trends and act as a subject matter expert and trainer/mentor for IT and business team members.
- Manage customer-facing communication via voice, email, and ticketing or work request systems.
- Maintain detailed understanding of the environment portfolio and the technical aspects of services and solutions.
- Articulate and communicate Salesforce functionality to non-technical users.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineer, or a business-related field.
- Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may substitute, with preference for four years progressive relevant work experience.
- Minimum four years of experience working as a Product Owner in an Agile environment (or equivalent).
- Experience with Scrum and/or Lean Kanban framework preferred.
- Experience serving as a single point of contact between a vendor and client or between business and IT.
- Healthcare system experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce configuration, customization, and integration required.
- Technical leadership skills and strong knowledge of applications, IT infrastructure, and 3rd party interfaces.
- Demonstrated support for the company’s mission, vision, and values, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, observational, organizational, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships.
- Excellent track record of success as a collaborative partner.
- Strong working knowledge of HIPAA regulations for codes and transactions, security, and privacy required.
- Ability to establish good working relationships at all levels of the company.
- Exemplary customer service skills.
- Ability to identify problems, research alternatives, and resolve them.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize work and tasks and maintain strong organization.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced, multi-tasking, changing environments and meet deadlines, including independent work.
- Excellent project management skills, including managing multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and related integration features.
- SQL, ETL, and APIs familiarity is a strong plus.
- Backend applications experience, data analysis, and writing SQL queries are a plus.
- Familiarity with Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and other Salesforce development tools.
- Product owner certification or Certified Salesforce Administrator and/or Salesforce Product Owner certification highly preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for positions requiring driving.

Compensation and work model
- Salary: USD 118,600 to 133,300 annually.
- Hybrid: In-office and remote blend.
- Location: Denver, CO.
- Colorado Access is not able to support out of state employees at this time while continuing to serve members and the community in the metro Denver area and across Colorado.
