Product Manager - Medical Device
Job Description
The Product Manager will own and steer the strategy for the General Endoscopy portfolio, with a focus on early-stage development and translating market insights into concrete product requirements. This is a remote role with travel up to 40 percent domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Lead engagement with key opinion leaders, advisory boards, innovation center visits, pre-clinical labs, and field interactions to capture clinical insights.
- Perform market and competitive analyses to identify opportunities, portfolio gaps, and shifts in clinical practice.
- Synthesize customer feedback into actionable recommendations for the franchise.
- Play an active role in upstream product development from opportunity identification through funded program initiation.
- Draft market requirements documents (MRDs) and product feature specifications that define clinical needs, target use cases, and performance criteria.
- Contribute to prioritization of development concepts and help advance high-value ideas into funded programs.
- Manage multiple concurrent development projects within cross-functional teams (R&D, Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, Downstream Product Management & Marketing) guided by clinical and commercial research.
- Maintain a robust innovation pipeline that balances near-term opportunities with longer-term strategic priorities.
- Identify gaps in the current portfolio and recommend pathways, including internal development or external partnerships, to address them.
- Ensure development priorities align with the company growth objectives for the Americas region.
- Collaborate with R&D to clearly frame the clinical problem, including who is affected, what is broken, and why it matters.
- Partner with Downstream Product Management to transition upstream work into launch-ready commercial assets.
- Support regional marketing teams with market analysis, clinical positioning, and portfolio messaging as products approach commercialization.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in GI and catheter-based medical device product management, with hands-on exposure to early-stage development.
- At least five years of experience leading multiple projects and influencing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and other regulatory requirements for medical devices.
- Proven track record of turning clinical and market insights into solid product requirements.
- Minimum five years of clinical or laboratory experience with therapeutic GI endoscopy devices preferred.
- Preference for candidates with gastroenterology focus in medical devices or with catheter-based technologies and image-guided procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to blend creative thinking with strategic ownership and pragmatic execution to drive results.
- Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google tools, CRM systems, and database resources.
- Experience with SAP and Power BI is preferred.
