Product Design Manager
Job Description
Capital One in San Francisco is seeking a Product Design Manager to lead experience design and help shape product strategy in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. This onsite role blends strong design craft with leadership to create human-centered product experiences that align with business goals. You will guide discovery, design systems, and partnerships across teams to move complex initiatives forward.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design effort by blending craft expertise with leadership and a deep understanding of customers and the business to co-create innovative solutions and influence product strategy.
- Product Design Expertise: Demonstrate advanced product design skills across interaction, visual, and service design; in collaboration with cross-functional partners, map out complex front- and back-stage interactions across channels, platforms, and users, selecting appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, and produce artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Human-Centered: Navigate partner and stakeholder needs with critical-thinking, factoring in data, research insights, scalability, and tech constraints, while ensuring the team conducts discovery on critical customer and associate needs to deliver inclusive internal and customer-centered solutions.
- Business-Focused: Apply insights on customers, competitors, and broader market trends to business challenges, shaping a shared point of view for the team, partners, and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Bring a solid understanding of tech, data capabilities, and emerging technologies to inform work and help the cross-functional team move faster while navigating technical limitations to deliver impactful solutions. Explore and integrate AI tools across the end-to-end design process to boost creativity, streamline workflows, and drive innovation.
- Problem-Solving: Apply technical knowledge to guide decisions, support faster progress, and address constraints as new technologies emerge throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaboration: Leverage a broad network of partnerships across lines of business to foster collaboration, incorporating cross-functional perspectives to bridge information gaps and drive product strategy.
- Communication: Present work across levels and functions with a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data, and research insights to articulate a compelling point of view that informs strategic decisions at senior levels.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role
- At least 5 years of experience in design and prototyping tools such as Figma
