Product Design Manager
Job Description
Capital One seeks a Product Design Manager to lead the Experience Design team’s product design efforts, blending design craftsmanship with leadership to shape innovative solutions and influence product strategy. The role emphasizes cross functional collaboration, human centered practice, and delivering business impact through design.
Role Overview
The position guides end to end design programs, translating user needs and business goals into compelling product experiences while shaping strategy and mentoring design professionals across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead product design by combining design craftsmanship with leadership, aligning customer needs with business goals to co-create innovative solutions and influence product strategy.
- Product Design Expertise: Demonstrate deep skills across interaction, visual, and service design; in partnership with cross functional teams, map complex front and back end flows across channels and platforms, guiding tool choices, design systems, and artifacts such as journey maps, process blueprints, high fidelity layouts, and interactive prototypes.
- Human-Centered: Balance partner and stakeholder needs with critical thinking, factor in data and research insights, scalability, and technical constraints, ensuring discovery on critical customer and associate needs to deliver inclusive internal and customer centered solutions.
- Business-Focused: Apply insights on customers, competitors, and broader market trends to business challenges, shaping a shared point of view for the team, partners, and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrate a solid understanding of technology, data capabilities, and emerging technologies; use this knowledge to inform work and help cross functional teams move faster, navigating technical limitations to deliver impactful solutions. Explore and integrate emerging AI tools and technologies throughout the end-to-end design process to enhance creativity and streamline workflows.
- Collaboration: Leverage a broad network of partnerships across lines of business to foster collaboration, incorporate cross functional perspectives, bridge information gaps, and drive product strategy.
- Communication: Present work across levels and functions using a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data, and research insights to articulate a compelling point of view that informs strategic decision making at senior levels.
- Portfolio and impact: A strong portfolio demonstrating leadership, process, results, and measurable impact.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Product Design role
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma

Salary: USD 179,700 - 205,100 per year
